How would your life change if you could be in more than one place at the same time? Well, if you had access to an airplane that could travel at over 200 mph and had many of the features of the most modern commercial airliners, your friends and business partners will begin to wonder just how you seem to do it. The ability to arrange personal travel by air to exactly where you wish to go and when you need to be there has historically been beyond the means of most business owners or individuals. Flightime Flying Club at San Antonio International Airport is changing all of that by featuring the Cirrus SR22 aircraft. Both shared ownership and rental opportunities are now available.
This new and exciting segment of aviation has evolved from the development of a new variety of Technically Advanced Aircraft. Cirrus Design Corporation, a Technically Advanced Aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota, has emerged as an innovator and leader in general aviation. Founded in 1984, Cirrus has been hard at work behind the scenes developing technologies that, in recent years, has synergized into the Cirrus line of personal aircraft. Their flagship is their newest model, the new SR22-G3. Cirrus’ SR22 has been the best selling single-engine, four-passenger airplane in the world for the past five years. Transitioning from one of the slower, less sophisticated aircraft that are available at most FBOs, to the new Cirrus, is akin to transitioning from a vintage Volkswagen Bug to a top of the line Lexus. In place of older cockpit technology, the Cirrus SR22 boasts the most advanced communication and navigation systems to be found in a civilian aircraft. Cirrus’ ballistic parachute recovery system, standard on all Cirrus aircraft, offers a level of safety unequaled in any other aircraft. In the unlikely event that the aircraft encounters a catastrophic event which renders it uncontrollable, a 55 foot diameter parachute is able to lower you and the airplane safely back to earth. Cirrus didn’t only consider the pilot, but anyone who might be riding along, as well. With factory installed air conditioning, you’ll forget what time of year it is as you taxi to the runway. Furthermore, satellite radio isn’t just for those of us on the ground, you know! The features that a Cirrus has to offer make it the most advanced piston-powered general aviation aircraft available. The Cirrus SR22 can truly bring the amenities of corporate aviation into the world of the small business owner. Once you make your first trip in a Cirrus, you’ll start dreaming about your next.
There are a number of benefits to owning your own airplane. If you are a partial owner of an aircraft, there will be a limited number of people who will be flying that aircraft. The fewer owners in your group, the greater the aircraft’s availability. Typical flight school aircraft are nearly always booked and are usually used for primary training. An airplane that is used for primary flight training incurs much more abuse than an airplane that is used primarily for longer cross-country flights. As an analogy, think of highway miles versus city miles in a car. Individuals who have a personal interest in an aircraft are much more likely to take good care of it, as well. This being said, the drawback to sole ownership is that it may not be cost effective.
Enter shared ownership. This route to the skies offers as much of an ideal situation that you could expect. Most owner shared aircraft are higher-end products and are usually professionally managed. All of the details are taken care of, so all that is left for you to do is fly. Above that, what you pay for the aircraft much more closely matches what you use. You can have nearly exclusive use of a very nice machine for a very reasonable investment. If you had access to a Cirrus, you could go to the airport after work and be landing at Mustang Beach in 45 minutes. Take a sunset flight along the Texas coast and then be back in San Antonio, home in time for the evening news. Such a trip in a car would have to wait for the weekend, and would likely take the better part of three hours just to get there. The possibilities are as limitless as the sky is high. In fact, anywhere you’d like to fly to would take an average of 1/3 the time it would take to drive. Time is money, so why spend your time fighting traffic when you could enjoy your travel time in a Cirrus?
Owning a Cirrus, as you can see, offers a myriad of opportunity for enhanced safety, convenience, and comfort for your travel requirements. Whether your business mandates your time away from home, you’d like to take that occasional jaunt after work, or if you just want to be able to visit distant family members more often, Cirrus ownership is the way to go. Owning a Cirrus will add an exciting dimension to your life. You will soon realize that numbers aren’t the only way to justify your investment. There are those who will want to purchase an entire aircraft on their own, and there are those who will want to buy a share of an aircraft. It all depends on your personal needs. Both options are available. If you don’t care to do the flying yourself, there are people to do that sort of thing. Pilots love to fly, especially Cirrus pilots! You can hire pilots on an as-needed basis for trips in your aircraft.
